That's a translation mistake in Chapter 689. In the Japanese original, she says she is going to get a taxi to drive them home, not a rental car. (はい... タクシーで家まで...)

I have everything against this wild guess, like she died in the movie (though they recognized her only by a cellphone strap) and Aoyama-sensei has a politic that villains have no business with heel face turns. Like Sera Masumi was created cause people liked a character called Koshimizu Natsuki, but he was against (although a villain from one of his previous series YAIBA reincarnated as a normal kendo practitioner in this continuity)

But I can't shake this feeling that she seems like her... Could be sensei same-six-faces playing through though...

@okabekudo Just a very loose bet of mine in that they could pull a canon immigrant (this thing when a character is so popular in the derivative works that he/she/it ends being included in the original later).

Like you know... Detective Takagi is an anime creation... in that regard Inspector Shiratori was created for the first movie too... Or this is what TV tropes (and the wiki for that matter) wants me to believe...
