I managed to pinpoint why this doesn't have the same charm as Magi for me. In Magi, the three protagonists were all really charming and all strong in their own right and weak in their own right (magic, leadership, strength). In Orient, only Musashi gets all the power ups.
Which makes me think that either Kojiro or Musashi is going to be the secret antagonist. I personally want Musashi to be the antagonist but Kojiro has the motivation right now. This arc has been done well before (in Magi, quite a few times actually) so maybe?
