been noticing that this MangaYo group keeps on stealing/sniping other ppl's projects and chugging out subpar low-quality work. would be great if they can get removed before some kinda shitstorm starts abt it

Hopefully something done soon about them, hopefully people will continue to support Trash Scan by visiting their site upon their own releases.
MangaDex will need to come down hard and quickly to stop this from becoming a common occurrence from others attempting to do the same tactic. We can just hope they will have the chapters removed soon.

i don't understand the problem. better scanlations coming out later with higher quality/better translations is pretty normal. what's the obsession with needing to be first?

@Tathra one thing is they would lose potential revenue for the work they do as most people will not reread when the better teams work comes out so its a common consensus that if a team is already translating a manga, manhua or manhwa that you should not attempt to steal just to gain money / cash grabbing. Plus this group has made zero attempt to contact the original translating teams to discuss taking over the transaltion and with them doing such a bad job could potential turn viewer away from reading the series as they could assume that that would be the standard etc.
In the terms of Omanga / MangaYo they are doing it to cause an uproar to generate traffic to their website.

if you're only doing scanlations to make money then you should send a portfolio of your work - that is, your resume - to viz, tokyopop, dark horse, etc

Since they decided to re enable their adblock-blocker again, they clearly disregard our rules. And thus earned themselves a ban.

MD uses a 3 strike policy. They were on their final warning - and since they re-enabled their adblocker blocker, they have been permanently banned.

This is honestly good news.

While it's not a decision to discourage amateur scanlators, it's a healthy decision, choosing quality over the first-come-first-served policy.

It's also worth mentioning, that the quality scanlators didn't do anything to withhold content, they just use slightly more time doing proof-reading, cleaning and QC. When a group sacrifices all those, it only hurts the viewers - which is who should be prioritised by a site such as this.

The official policy is that MD does not police content.
In this case, the group in question wasn't banned for sniping, but for breaking profiteering rules.

Just to be clear, release delays aren't considered profiteering, right? I don't see any mention of it in the rulebook, but according to these lines:

3.2.6. Only partially uploading releases with the intention to lure users to your site for the other chapters is not allowed. Either upload all chapters, or don't upload any.

And:

2.5. Chapters from groups linking to group sites which adopt excessive profiteering techniques are not allowed. Examples include (but not limited to) adblocker-blockers, pop-ups and pop-unders.

Release delays could be considered an infriction unless specified not to be. Of course, I wouldn't deem it to be excessive in any way, but I think it would be good with some more in-depth rules about the extent of allowed profiteering.

Profiteering is allowed (website hosting and raws aren't free).

Excessive profiteering is when your aim is to make money from scanlation, and not trying to earn money to cover the costs of scanlation.

As such, delays are allowed (it is a feature built into the site after all).
