This guy is on the exact same level as other dense MCs, don't pretend they aren't all this stupid. It's the get out of jail free card for authors that want to prolong the "will they, won't they" romance story stage. Since they have a get out of jail free card and it continues to work so well (that is to say, it's profitable), it's natural that they use it.

I miss the days when MC's weren't this dense and just got straight to the point, theres no harm in having a shorter story cause of that.
