So Mashuu is like that bead, uf you free him (out of your care) he can break, that's why you would want to keep him trapped. Sounds beautifully creepy. But doesn't quite apply to our story since she doesn't really feel so possesive of him.

Yeah I feel like the analogy doesn't work very well with the story. It's kinda been a running theme with this manga for me, that its anecdotes for emotional moments fall kinda flat. It's cute and all, but it's not quite getting to something more profound.

TIL some people have never heard of foreshadowing.

What if, and this is just a huge if, the "perfect sphere" analogy is a hint towards inner turmoil explored later on by the characters? Almost as if our protagonist retreats from relationships because of her internalised vulnerability caused by family trauma or something 🤔. Nope, must be bad writing /s.

Incidentally, I also think detective fiction are all crap because authors keep putting in these unrelated details called "clues" for the readers. No way those "clue" things can be relevant later on.
