The word I had was that the Light Novel was suddenly put on hold, so the manga naturally stopped as well. The anime apparently stopped about where the light novel stopped, so the odds of a "Season 3" are slim-to-none.

I hadn't heard a reason for the stoppage. Again, I got this info from a third-party, so it's basically hearsay.

The author isn't working on the main story, and afaik doesn't plan to any time soon. He's working on side stories. It's a shame, I love this series.
He's still writing, just not continuing main series Log Horizon.

@Nighatos Yeah, he was charged for Tax Evasion and that definitely could be why development of the LN stopped and the Manga/Anime after.

Apparently he's still writing the web novel, just really slow.
Light novel volume 11 was released in 2018 too, english was early this year. Idk how successful the novels are now so that might affect future releases.
