@Corvettecorvette There's a surprisingly good amount of them, assuming you're not looking for action only (I don't mention any). Ignoring whether they are realistic portrayals or not.
For the pure thoughtful "life" slice-of-life series (my favorite category), you might want to check out: Hoshi no Ko / Kodomo Otona / Yume no Soko / Ano Ko no Ie / Tsuzuki wa Mata Ashita.
Or the more fun variety of SoLs: Who Wants to Play? (has an official English release, free up to a point) / Kyou no Go no Ni.
Kids means sweetness: Life So Happy (you might need to read the prequel though) / Boku wa Ne.
For a nice mix of comedy and drama: Gakuen Alice / Kodomo no Omocha (Kodocha).
Or more drama: Madoka no Himitsu / Shoujo Shounen Gakyuudan / Kodomo no Kodomo.
And cuz we (I) like fantasy: Tegamibachi / The Monster Duchess and Contract Princess / Angelic Syndrome
Tragedy has its place too: Forever Honey / Rental Onii-chan / Kagen no Tsuki.
Some things fit more than one category, so don't be surprised if you find Fantasy in Gakuen Alice, for example. Also, in each category, I ordered them by the ones I like most first (those I like them all). Hope you at least get to like one ^-^
