@lastKANAshimi Thistle the mad sorcerer created the dungeon. Being an elf from a time closer to the period and the chief wizard in a kingdom, he must have known more than a civilian like Marcille from the current era would. By Marcille's time, ancient magic had long been forbidden and while knowledge of dungeon building was available, it was very limited. Thistle instead would have had a better grasp of both the magic and WHY the dungeon structure was needed when using that magic. He also knew that he had to imprison the Winged Lion, the demon he summoned. That's why the dungeon remained stable for so long despite his complex desires.

So now it begs the question if the Winged Lion is actually on Laius's side or is just using him... Granted odds are even if he was evil and tried to eat Laius's desires the result would probably be disappointing, lol.

Oooh. The story seems to be implying that the winged lion is one of those "demons" mentioned in the story. Furthermore the bad premonition he felt is another hint that the winged lion is actually just using Laius. It would make sense too, since the dungeon seems to want to consume whatever enters it.

@PurpleBomber, i bet the manga will end with Laius loosing all desire because he's satisfied that he met a demon. Then Kabru stabs the demon. The end

And again the author is deus ex machina'ing. Just like the sudden reveal that Marcille could use ancient magic when needed, now we have sudden alternate infinite dimension of demons that feed on desires when needed. Smooth continuity is definitely not this manga's strong point.

Also this chapter is going to make fujioshis go berserk

@BCS, how can that be considered a deus ex machina? It's not a plot contrivance if it's more lore to add to the myth arc that's been present in the narrative and setting since the beginning. It helps answer why there are dungeon lords and dungeons, a question that's been around since the first chapters.

@BCS It may have been a bumpy transition, but hardly a deus ex machina. It’s already been established a while ago how the dungeon responds to desires, and the winged lion is repeatedly stated to be an important figure there, it’s just that it’s possible that it’s not quite the benevolent being everyone thought it was.

@BCS You don't really understand what deus ex machina means, do you? The ancient magic reveal was a little out of nowhere and abrupt, but it was then explained and integrated into Marcille's character and story. The nature of dungeons has been a mystery - now it is not. An answered question by the only character to show up in the story so far who would have that answer and be willing to tell it.

If it doesn't damage the internal consistency of the story, it's not a deus ex machina. Especially not when it's worldbuilding.

Deym, not a plot twist but only truth.by revealing the truth of the dungeon and how it was there in the first place was rocking more than any plot-twist in any manga or alike
