This would be particularly nice for one shot type of manga. There is really no good way to track if they released a new manga (or rather translated), so it would really help with discovery.

One issue I could see with this is that if this acted as follow for all authors series, it could mean user could see chapters for series he's not interested (if mangaka has multiple series ongoing). But this could be solved by series status overriding author follow status (either with Dropped, or new Not Interested state).

Alternatively if it just pushed 1st chapter of a new series and had the user decide whether to follow it, that would be cool too.
