I plan to read a couple volumes into this series before the anime remake features in Oct. 2020 and causes a resurgent boost in popularity.

For record’s sake, I’ll be documenting the views, rating, and user bookmarks for this series as the year 2020 progresses:

March 2020: ~17,000 views, 8.54 rating, 622 bookmarks.

On Dragon Quest Day (May 27), an event was broadcasted that revealed many details. The anime’s cast and staff was revealed, several games were announced to be in development, the prequel manga “Avan” was announced, and a minute-long anime test reel was revealed. Very stunning!

31 May 2020: 20,660 views, 8.51 rating (74 votes), 780 bookmarks.

1 July 2020: 22,434 views, 8.53 rating (76 votes), 829 bookmarks.

1 Aug. 2020: 23,845 views, 8.53 (79), 869 bookmarks.

Pretty good Shonen series. Definitely a product of its time, nothing in this manga will surprise you but it is a fun ride while it last.

It's nice to have the same scanlation group from the 1st chapter to the last really creates an experience unique to scanlated manga.

I remember watching the anime adaptation of this manga as a child and loving it. It was one of my favorites. I felt nostalgic when I saw it here. I have not read the manga before so it would be nice to relive its events thus time as a manga read and not an anime watch.

Why is this on the featured section all of a sudden? Is it because more people are looking for this after they see the new anime?

Well, good for them. Read this when I was a kid, and it's a good manga overall. Wish Emblem of Roto would be translated as well. I have the raw, but I'm busy with another project right now.

Just wondering if anyone plans on redoing this series? Using the old translation and HQ raws? It was scanlated over a decade ago.
