There are gamblers out there who even bet their lives as ante. But to secure the integrity of these life-threatening gambles, a violent and powerful organization by the name of “Kakerou” referees these games as a neutral party. Follow Baku Madarame a.k.a. Usogui (The Lie Eater) as he gambles against maniacal opponents at games – such as Escape the Abandoned Building, Old Maid, and Hangman – to ultimately “out-gamble” and control the neutral organization of Kakerou itself.

Okey thank you for the reply✌️✨
@Rosa029992435 the MC's goal is to become the boss, through gambling. the first half of the story is good if you like political drama type stuff and sets up a lot of stuff for the second half where the plot, characters, symbolism, and other literary elements are all super planned out and detailed. the 2nd half of the manga is the best of any manga I've read so far overall, with a lot of hidden parallels, connections, and callbacks that deeply explore the plot and characters & give it a high reread value.
it depends on whether you think the first half (~250 chapters) is worth getting through to reach that point though. fwiw the current arc has people using concepts from game theory like the Nash equilibrium to try to figure out the players' logical next moves and figure out the situation, lol.
I was wondering if anyone could tell me if reading this is even worth it? Honestly. I just wanna know since it has a lotttttt if chapters. It is probably extremely time consuming to read this. So before I give this any time of my day, I really wanna know if it’s worth it and why????

Does the Mc become the boss or something? ( because I do enjoy those type of themes). But if it’s only about gambling and shit and about the Mc becoming the best gambler or something. Then in that case it’s not really worth for me tho.
But I am curious for the answer. Thanks in advance ✌️
@Kirakirakirakay you have to agree that Manabe is best boi
This series was written in a weird transition for Seinen manga. It doesn't take itself to seriously while still hitting on the themes. The pacing is weird and the artist seems to always be adapting their style.

Its kind of reminds me of Keisuke Itagaki's work [Baki] in the way that the author kind of just goes with the flow and doesn't worry about the plot to much. Also in the fact the author likes being as bombastic and fantastical as possible.

Really impressed with the scanlators pacing. They must work around the clock or have a decent sized team for a scanlator group. Really wish Karakuri Circus and old series like it also got out this fast

This is one of the best mangas I´ve ever read. Im Currently on chapter 300 and any arc so far feels underwhelming.
Flow of the panels is really weird. It’s hard to read.
I don't really understand how, but looking at some later chapters, it almost feels like the author's art skill has DEVOLVED significantly since the beginning. Just me?

Edit: I take it back, seems like he just had a bit of an awkward period in the middle between switching styles.

Edit #2: Dropping it at Ch. 80. What did the author do to my man baku's hair. And I don't care about the larger plot that is getting built, so.

@Mangakong the egg ad is referring to the Usogui april fool's day "advertisement" that was displayed on mangadex (I created it). This is what the ad looked like:
What actually is this egg ad everyone in the comments is talking about? I started reading usogui long before that so i really don't know it. Although i am sure that i do know the scene it is referring to.

It's pretty amazing how the art has changed. It almost looks like a completely different manga. It's really come a long way, extremely impressive work by Sako.

I dropped this manga at around vol 17, I just couldn't keep interested. Marco is the only character I care about! Leave my precious child alone! But I picked it up again on a whim and powered through to the latest chapters (vol 40) and I'm really impressed. The author has gotten so much better with both his writing and his art. The side-characters are getting much better development and the plot/games make much more sense. Plus the art is really stellar now. The Oofuna/Hachina arc and then the story book backstory are my favourite arcs of the whole manga so far, but the Greed Island I mean Protoporos arc has been very entertaining as well. Thank you for all your hard work Duwang Gang, your translations and the summaries at the end of the chapters are really great.
We just created an Usogui discord server guys for fans! Feel free to join us discussing this manga! Thanks for supporting this manga!
