"Middle Edo Period -- One state becomes the gathering place for sinful martial artists, who believe in nothing other than power, know of no other way of life other than letting oneself go wild in the battle. That state is the Unabara State, the "Haunt of Demons"..."

Washitzu Naosata, the ruler of the powerful state, Unabara, is looking for his successor. He calls upon all his 31 sons, and tells them to search for whoever they believe to be the strongest martial artist of all. Each of their chosen martial artists then are to fight against each other until only one is left standing. Whoever is the winner, whoever has the strongest martial artist in the nation by his side will become his successor...

Out in the midst of the mountain is the doujo of the "Daigame Ryuu" (Giant Tortoise Style). There lives Kurogane Gama, the son of the legendary swordsman, Kurogane Jinsuke, who is believed to be able to kill 1000 martial artists in Unabara. There, one of the sons of Washitzu Naosata, Washitzu Naoshi, comes in search of the legendary swordsman, only to find that he had gone missing several years ago. After seeing the battle style of Gama, he instead chooses to ask Gama to come with him. Wanting to become stronger, Gama agrees to his offer, and that marks the beginning of Gama's battle to become the strongest of all...

damn this was a good read but ending is meh
If this turn's into a anime, this will be a big hit.
This series's one hell of a good read, and if you want to find something else like this, I'd suggest Kengan Ashura (there's a sequel of it out already too) both being slightly grounded in terms of fights except KA's mostly fight fights and instead of feudal lords, it's buisiness owners who are fighting and a 2nd recommendation is Shuumatsu no Valkyrie, I'll let you explore that one for yourself

Better than I expected.
I want to steal one line that has been spoken by SSJR2. It's true that this series is one of the best, and is superior to everything I've read so far. And in fact, for the same elements, I want to say that this is better than Samurai X. I know this seems a bit misguided, but the technical moves derived from the school and dojo are not much different.
Gama is not the main character where his overpower ability is submerged beyond common sense. He has conditions that make him look tough and "champion" of all. But he is not excessive. (yes, you will realize that the older you are not overdoing it is good).
The story develops with necessity, the details can be recommended for battles that are not too heavy but one side make me "wow".
Thank you for the upload I've been wanting to finish this series for a long time.
This is definitely one of the best martial arts/Weaponry series "more realistic" type fighting. Its definitely worth the bing and hopefully it gets an anime.
this was a dope binge......awesome series. it ended at 194 chapters.
That looks like Gintama but smug instead of sloth.
Can you upload the sequel Gamaran: Shura if possible?
