I guess the reason why Tenjin Minami hasn't made a single move is that,

childhood friend never win ;_;

@Ichigo69 @-ing you despite your expressly stated wishes

because I also want him to get with the childhood friend

even if that's not what's gonna happen because childhood friends never get with the MC
Avatar
I get the feeling, after reading these comments, that I'm the only one who wants him to get with the childhood friend. I like the gyaru and all, but I like the childhood friend better.

It took me until now to realize the author was a woman.

Yo dude, am I unatractive or what? Nah bro, you handsome af, hoes mad, be wanting only tall guys nowadays smh.
Avatar
I'm gonna laugh my ass off if Tenjin is also after Jirou.
Avatar
uuuuhhhhh so no one's going to talk about how he just left his homeboy to pay for both meals? glasses-kun only has enough money to pay for his share what's gonna happen with him????

This really is Toradora! but with only 1 best girl...

lets get down to some good old fashioned crack shipping and pair the brown tomboy (lesbian?) with Minami-kun and Shiori with Akari.
Avatar
I don`t know why but I like Shiori better with Jirou than Akari. But it`s a dream that could never come true.

Plot twist: Minami likes the MC.
Avatar
@Darklight99 Well, Vincentius already explained the reason why.
Avatar
@Eraviel Well yes, he's definitely into Akari now, but he knows that she likes Minami and he has recently kissed Shiori, one can't expect him tof other about his childhood friend love so fast.
Avatar
@Darklight99 Not starting. It's clear as the day that he's really into Akari now. He's falling out of love of his childhood friend but still getting gung-ho over her is weird.

@Vincentius Hmm, that's a sound reasoning. Actually, the last part you said makes sense when the author's reluctance to abandon the premise. It's like he's going to put Jirou in a situation like this:

And the way you explained it, I can see the possibility that Minami will go after the childhood friend as well.
Avatar
@Eraviel Habit. And the belief that Akari's still 100% after Minami. That said, I've felt for quite some time now that his feelings for Shiori are more nostalgia driven than anything; basically, he's not really in love with her anymore, and probably hasn't been for years, but he still remembers their time together fondly, so now whenever he sees her, he gets a rush of nostalgia and is thinking he still likes her. Subconsciously, though, his attraction to her probably withered in the years they spent apart after she rejected him and he just never really paid attention to other girls afterwards to move on.

@John_Doe_Jersey It doesn't really have anything to do with a poorly developed storyline, so much as the fact that authors and publishers want to feature the main girl as much as they can, so they always put her on the cover of the first volume and manga readers are just savvy enough to put two and two together. For comparison, since this story draws on a similar premise, it's like going into Toradora and thinking anyone but Taiga had a chance. Her name's alluded to in the title alongside Ryuuji's (tora = tiger; taiga is the phonetic pronunciation of tiger; dora is part of the phonetic pronunciation of dragon (doragon), which is ryuu), so the series is all about how they end up together despite initially starting out as working to help the other out with their crush.

That said, in this case, a large part of why Shiori is still hanging around is the author's reluctance to abandon their premise, even though it's an artifact; I can certainly understand that hesitance as an author, myself. It's also that the desire to move into the top 10 and swap partners to their initial love interests is pretty much the driving force behind Jirou and Akari getting closer and advancing their relationship in the first place, so in a way, you kinda have to keep the "love interests" in play if for no other reason than to have motivation for the two leads.
Avatar
oof so minami do like shiori eh... 3 people...
Avatar
@Eraviel He is starting to fall in love with her but he has been in love with Shiori for a long time, not to mention he knows that Akari loved Minami.
