Vol. 5 Ch. 26 - The Lead

@tgb089 This isn't directly about Maomao's personal circumstances. Her debt was already pretty much paid off in the process of hiring her as a maid. The things to note about this are that this tactician dude is talking about a past incident involving lowering a price that didn't apparently work out as planned, and the fact that Maomao has been getting the vibe that she knows somebody like the description of the tactician from somewhere already and doesn't like or want to run into that person. Anything more would basically be the things that have yet to be revealed.

I know if it's a bit late to ask, but I don't clearly grasp Maomao's circumstances. Is she a slave? The talks buying and lowering prices make it seems so. Is she still in debt to her pseudo grandma because why ask to lower the price of a courtesan?

page 40 : as mentioned in previous chapter 25 , rakan adopted his capable nephew and made the nephew do all his works for him , so now rakan can lazily slack off .

so the military officer Basen hates mao mao for some unknown reasons , and he look likes Gao shun .

i dont read the web novels , light novels , so everything below are not spoilers , they are just my wild guesses / wild assumptions , so they could be wrong :

I guess Basen is the younger brother of the eunuch Gao shun . and Basen is cross-dressing as a maid servant of Jinshi . in the page below , "she"comes from the military side , so "she" is not an officer 's attendant , "she" is a military officer .

i guess Basen hates Maomao because Maomao has a close relationship with Gao shun and Jinshi .

@Cidolfas thank you so much , I don't know how I forgot something that happened not so long ago lol

@Scrwd mmm, maybe it's just me, but there isn't any fish anymore so why pour water?

This manga is a damn masterpiece, it seems that mangas that have imperial japan / china as a setting are just predestined to be great

Okay I am starting to get a certain thought so correct me if I'm wrong ...

Also I love how easy it is to follow how Maomao solves the problems but still makes it satisfying in how she does it.
But please no romance, that would just be too weird

@sinisempi It's from the LN or so the web novel translator says because she has volumes of the LN. She even made a volume breakdown of the chapters in her wordpress comparing the WN to the LN like chapters removed, added, or switched around.

@sinisempi
It has a novel.

@unime
Probably because the Light Novel was the adaption
.

this is so convoluted it has to be manga original

love how she used her powers of deduction to work out who the eldest brother was

@lexy It was because last chapter, towards the end, Rakan was telling Jinshi a story about the courtesan he wanted to redeem from the Rokushokan whose price was raised above what he could afford due to a bidding war between two other wealthy guys. Rakan said "if the price is too high, then you just have to lower the price". Jinshi asked him "how does one do that?", and Rakan deflected by talking about the case from this chapter instead.

These small puzzles are always interesting to see. but im more surprised the small brother didnt try to pour water into the bowl before this.

Sweet of maomao to recommend a good doctor in case poor younger son gets poisoned from his own job....oh well

Also, can anybody help me remember why jinshi wants to lower the price of a courtesan? Didn't he already buy mao? Or maybe for a character we don't know yet?
